When to Visit

Below gives you information and a rating of the best time of year to visit.

January

One of the most comfortable months, with warm, dry days around 26–30°C and low humidity. It’s ideal for strolling along Beach Road, visiting Jomtien Beach, or exploring local markets. Water sports such as jet-skiing and parasailing are at their best under clear skies, while evenings are lively along the waterfront.

February

Conditions remain bright and dry, with temperatures around 28–31°C. The calm sea makes boat trips to nearby islands, such as Koh Larn, especially rewarding. Early mornings are ideal for temple visits or walking along quieter stretches of the beach before the day heats up.

March

Temperatures rise to 30–34°C, with increasing humidity. Beachgoers and water sports enthusiasts will find the sea inviting, while shaded areas and air-conditioned attractions provide relief from midday heat. Festivals and cultural events take place throughout the city.

April

One of the hottest months, often reaching 32–35°C. Thai New Year (Songkran) is celebrated with lively water fights across the city. It’s a great time for early-morning exploration of local temples or coastal walks, with afternoons best spent cooling off in the sea or enjoying a shaded café.

May

Humidity increases and rainfall becomes more frequent, though showers are often short and followed by sunshine. The city takes on a quieter rhythm as some visitors avoid the warmer, wetter weather. Indoor attractions, such as museums or cultural centres, offer a pleasant alternative.

June

Warm and humid, around 29–32°C, with intermittent tropical showers. Early mornings are comfortable for cycling or jogging along the waterfront, while afternoon rains refresh the greenery and often leave clear skies by evening.

July

Conditions remain similar, with regular passing showers and warm temperatures. The sea is still suitable for swimming, and quieter beaches and promenades make for peaceful exploration outside peak times. Night markets and cultural performances are enjoyable during cooler evenings.

August

Warm, humid, and sometimes wet, with occasional thunderstorms. Despite this, the city offers plenty of indoor and sheltered options, from art galleries and aquariums to café culture. Morning and evening activities are most pleasant, while showers typically pass quickly.

September

Often the wettest month, with heavy but usually short-lived rainfall. Temperatures remain around 28–31°C. Tourist numbers drop, giving a more relaxed feel to beaches and streets. Coastal walks are quieter, and waterfalls or nearby nature areas are particularly vibrant after rain.

October

Rainfall begins to ease, skies clear more frequently, and temperatures hover around 28–31°C. This is a good month for combining city exploration with nearby island excursions, enjoying beaches, and sampling local cuisine outdoors.

November

Dry season starts returning, with warm, sunny days around 27–30°C and lower humidity. Coastal activities, such as sailing and snorkelling, are ideal, while cultural attractions, shopping, and nightlife thrive in comfortable conditions.

December

Dry, bright, and warm, usually 26–30°C. Peak season begins, with lively beaches, festivals, and markets adding energy to the city. The combination of calm seas, pleasant temperatures, and festive atmosphere makes it one of the best months to visit Pattaya.
