When to Visit

Below gives you information and a rating of the best time of year to visit.

January

The year begins with sun-drenched days and warm breezes, perfect for beach lounging or exploring the Art Deco architecture of South Beach. Highs hover around 23°C, drawing snowbirds from colder states and Europe alike.

February

Miami stays lively with events like the South Beach Wine & Food Festival and vibrant Carnaval celebrations in Little Havana. The balmy climate continues to appeal, with plenty of al fresco dining and rooftop cocktails.

March

Spring break season picks up momentum, bringing an energetic atmosphere to Miami Beach. Ocean waters warm enough for swimming and highs of around 24°C make March ideal for boat tours, pool parties, or cruising down Ocean Drive.

April

Humidity starts to rise, but conditions remain pleasant for outdoor adventures - from paddleboarding in Biscayne Bay to wandering through the murals of Wynwood Walls. The city’s gardens, like Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, are in full bloom.

May

Temperatures creep up toward the high 20°Cs, and rainfall begins to increase slightly, though usually in short bursts. It's a good time to explore the lesser-visited beaches like Crandon Park or Bill Baggs Cape Florida, before summer humidity sets in.

June

Expect steamy days and occasional tropical downpours. With highs pushing past 31°C, locals cool off in the surf or head indoors to galleries and shopping districts. Miami Spa Month kicks off, offering luxe treatments at reduced rates.

July

Hot and humid, July is also lively, with Independence Day celebrations lighting up the skyline. The warm Atlantic waters are ideal for diving and snorkelling excursions around the Florida Reef, while indoor attractions offer welcome relief from the heat.

August

Miami settles into its tropical rhythm - afternoon showers, lush greenery, and fewer tourists. Foodies can take advantage of Miami Spice, when top restaurants roll out discounted tasting menus. It’s also sea turtle nesting season on area beaches.

September

Still hot and wet, this is Miami’s low season, making it a bargain-hunter’s dream. Cultural venues like the Perez Art Museum and Frost Science Museum offer plenty to explore, and hurricane season, while a consideration, doesn't usually deter savvy travellers.

October

Storm risk begins to ease and the city gets into party mode again with events like Halloween on Lincoln Road and Coconut Grove Pumpkin Patch Festival. Humidity declines and days become more manageable for sightseeing or beach walks.

November

Clearer skies and milder conditions return, with highs averaging 26°C. Cultural life picks up with the Miami Book Fair and preparations for the city’s peak season begin. Ocean swims are still very much in play, without the summer crowds.

December

Art lovers descend for Art Basel, one of the world’s premier contemporary art fairs. Balmy weather and festive events make December a stellar time to visit, whether for gallery hopping in Wynwood or dining outdoors beneath fairy-lit palms.
