Lemnos

The island of Lemnos is perfect destination for a more relaxed Greek island holiday. Located in the north Aegean, Lemnos (also known as Limnos), contains a wealth of natural attractions including volcanic landscapes, secluded bays and stretches of golden sand. The rolling hills and quaint whitewashed villages also offer beautiful views to enjoy whilst on the island that was the traditional home of the Greek god Hephaestus.

Lemnos is also the home to some outstanding food, with the soft white cheese kalathaki and its golden counterpart melichloro being local specialties that is best enjoyed with a chilled glass of the award-winning sweet golden Muscat wine which is also produced on the island. Late winter continues with mild days and occasional rain. The island remains uncrowded, making it a good time to experience its slower pace and rural character. Walking along empty beaches, exploring archaeological sites and visiting local bakeries and cafés all feel particularly atmospheric.

Early spring arrives gradually, with temperatures often reaching around 13–16°C. Fields begin to green after winter rains, and the island’s countryside becomes more inviting for walking and photography.
