When to Visit

Below gives you information and a rating of the best time of year to visit.

January

January brings mild weather by Turkish standards. While coastal breezes keep things cool, the Taurus Mountains inland are capped in snow, offering a striking contrast. The city is quiet, and historic sites like Hadrian’s Gate and Perge can be explored in peace.

February

February continues the calm. It’s a good time for wellness escapes, with hammams and thermal spas drawing visitors looking to recharge without the crowds.

March

March sees spring stirring in the region. Wildflowers start to bloom in the countryside, and day trips to the ancient ruins of Termessos or Aspendos feel especially atmospheric without the heat.

April

April is ideal for outdoor activities, with temperatures climbing comfortably. Hiking trails in the nearby Lycian Way become more inviting, and boat tours start to resume along the turquoise coast.

May

May welcomes the warmth. With average highs nudging into the mid-20s, the beaches of Konyaaltı and Lara begin to attract sun-seekers. The city also bursts into life with seasonal markets and waterfront dining.

June

June marks the start of summer in earnest. While not yet at peak heat, it’s warm enough for watersports, and day trips to the Duden Waterfalls or Saklikent Gorge offer a refreshing break from the sun.

July

July is hot and lively. Temperatures often reach the mid-30s, and the nightlife hums as beach clubs and rooftop bars hit their stride. It’s a bustling, high-energy time to be in the city.

August

August is equally hot, but the Mediterranean remains a draw, with warm waters perfect for snorkelling, sailing, and lazy beach days. Coastal resorts are in full swing, and there’s a festive feel in the air.

September

September brings a welcome drop in temperature, but the sea is still delightfully warm. It’s a popular time for couples and families seeking a balance of sunshine and cultural exploration without the peak-season crowds.

October

October offers golden afternoons and quieter beaches. With highs in the mid-20s, it’s a favourite month for those wanting to combine sightseeing and relaxation in comfort.

November

November slows the pace. While rain showers are more likely, days are still pleasant enough to enjoy a long lunch at the marina or explore Antalya’s old town, Kaleiçi, at a leisurely pace.

December

December is cool and laid-back. With festive lights strung through the narrow lanes of the old town, there’s a subtle charm to a winter visit, and you’ll likely have historical ruins and scenic trails mostly to yourself.
