Cities
Venice is undoubtedly one of the most iconic cities in the world. With canals reflecting the Venetian architecture, plazas and bridges, the city is shrouded in gothic drama and intrigue.
The medieval city of Verona in Italy’s Veneto region was built between the meandering Adige River. It’s most famous for being the setting of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet and The Verona Arena, a huge 1st-century Roman amphitheater, which now hosts concerts and large-scale opera performances.
The Tuscan city of Florence is where to head if you’re looking to explore the regions’ vineyards. The city itself is home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture – the most exemplary sights is the Duomo cathedral.

Lakes
Our favourite lakes for a weeks’ holiday are Como and Garda, both located in the north of Italy. Como is best reached with a flight into Milan, while Garda is accessible from Verona. We’d always recommend hiring a car from either airport and taking the time to explore each of the respective lakes to best appreciate what they have to offer.
The calm waters of Lake Como allows for some rather fun watersport opportunities including windsurfing, sailing and rowing. Back on shore, café-lined promenades are the place to relax and while away the time people-watching.
What we love most about Lake Garda is the contrast between the wild and rugged north and the flatter south that is flanked by vineyards and olive groves.

Food & Drink
Many of the restaurants that you’ll find set along the cobbled piazzas of Italy boast outside dining which is how we’d choose to enjoy a delicious bolognese, carbonara or seafood dish. When the setting is so romantic, you can’t be anything but spellbound by the fabulous occasion of dining.
Antipasti are the appetisers that are great to share before opting for a starter or diving into the main meal. Besides the pizza or pasta dishes, if you choose meat or fish, you’ll most likely need to order a side as that will be served separately. Grilled vegetables are always on the menu for non-meat eaters.

History & Heritage
Where to start? Italy is blessed with some of the worlds’ most breathtaking architecture, renaissance period sculptures and monuments, and gorgeous terraced vineyards.
Italy is home to the most-famed artists in history. You’ll find works by Michelangelo, Raphael, Botticelli, Donatello, Caravaggio and da Vinci in Milan, the Vatican, Florence, Venice and Rome.
Regardless of where you are in the country, there will always be something vying for your attention – a grand bridge, a mesmerising fountain, a line of cypress trees, a gelateria serving pistachio ice cream…
