Day 2: Split, Brac
This morning set out on a guided walk through Split, exploring the Palace of Diocletian before sailing to the island of Brac. Your destination is Bol, whose shoreline is adorned with the astonishing Zlatni Rat or ‘Golden Cape’, a beach comprised of tiny white pebbles which appears to thrust itself into the turquoise sea like a spearhead; its shape changing according to the vagaries of the wind and waves. Explore the town, notable for its 15th-century Dominican monastery and museum.
Day 3: Brac, Hvar
Arrive in Hvar and take a short coach ride across the island to the stunning Old Town of Hvar for a guided walk. Start in the iconic main square, the largest piazza in Dalmatia, then see the cathedral and the Franciscan Monastery. Continue to the Benedictine Convent, where we hear about the aloe lace still being produced by the nuns there. Tonight experience life as the locals do with a visit to one of the island’s lively restaurants or taverns.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day4: Hvar, Vis
On arrival at the Croatian island of Vis, disembark to explore this remote and largely untouched natural beauty during a scenic drive around the island. The island was used as a military base for the Yugoslav army and only opened to tourism in 1989. This long isolation and lack of development is the island’s main attraction and has ensured its untouched beauty. Your ship moors overnight, allowing you to enjoy dinner in one of the local restaurants. There’s also time to explore independently or perhaps take a swim at one of the island’s pristine beaches.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Day 5: Vis, Korcula
Enjoy free time and perhaps a swim before sailing to Korcula, birthplace of Marco Polo. On arrival, take a guided tour through the winding medieval streets. Your ship moors on the door step of the city meaning you can enjoy a delicious dinner in one of the many local restaurants all within an easy stroll.
Day 6: Korcula, Lopud
This morning we sail to the island of Lopud, one of the Elaphiti Islands off the Croatian coast. Just three of the 14 islands are inhabited, including Lopud, which is car-free and well known for its exotic gardens and beautiful beaches. As you sail into the harbour, admire the 30-metre-high bell tower of the 15th-century Franciscan Monastery. Enjoy a walking tour and stunning views from the medieval fortress followed by free time to explore. Take a short walk or hire a golf cart and head to the famous Sunj beach for a relaxing afternoon swim. The griddled fish at the Sunj beach bar may entice you to stay on for dinner this evening, otherwise choose from one of the many restaurants in town.
Day 7: Lopud, Dubrovnik
Departing Lopud early this morning, we soon dock at the unrivalled ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’. Spend the afternoon on a guided walk through the medieval Old Town of Dubrovnik. Enter through the impressive Pile Gate, which has stood guard at the entry of this unique walled city for centuries. Once within the ancient fortifications, wander along narrow limestone alleys and boulevards paved with marble to see the grand Gothic-Renaissance Rector’s Palace, the Dominican and Franciscan Monasteries, and the inspiring Sponza Palace. This evening enjoy a Farewell Dinner onboard with your newfound friends.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 8: Disembark Ship, Depart Budapest
Your journey draws to its conclusion after enjoying breakfast this morning, with a transfer to the airport for your return flight home to the UK.
