Giant Tortoise Curieuse Island - Tourism Seychelles/Chris Close

For millennia, the Seychelles Islands have remained isolated, resembling a series of Noah’s Arks that safeguard some of the most extraordinary and scarce varieties of flora and fauna on Earth. Among its remarkable features are two UNESCO World Heritage sites: the fabled Vallée de Mai and Aldabra, the largest raised coral atoll globally.

Encompassing the 41 granitic islands are sprawling forests, home to an astonishing 1,500 species of flowering plants, many of which are unparalleled elsewhere on the planet. These islands are also the exclusive habitat for a range of bird species. In total, Seychelles nurtures 13 species and 17 sub-species of birds that are found nowhere else in the world. This exceptional biodiversity is accessible through an extensive network of guided walks and trails, as well as within its national parks.
